17th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business
The flagship event for business leaders, executives and government representatives from Germany and Asia-Pacific will take place in Singapore from 13 to 14 November 2022.
The 17th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK) is co-chaired by the Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Dr. Robert Habeck and the APA-Chairman, President and CEO of Siemens AG Dr. Roland Busch. The conference's objective is to provide a platform to deepen the dialogue on current economic developments in Europe and Asia-Pacific, as well as to build and strengthen personal and economic ties. Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI) is a supporting partner of the APK.
The Asia-Pacific region is gaining a lot of political, demographic and economic momentum. According to the Asian Development Bank, Asia will contribute about 50 percent to the global gross domestic product by 2050. These developments are reflected in the Policy guidelines for the Indo-Pacific of the German government, which intends to strengthen cooperation in the areas of security policy, economy, health, and the fight against climate change, amongst others.
For German trade, the role of Asia-Pacific has been constantly increasing in significance: According to UN Comtrade, the share of the region in total German goods exports amounted to 15 percent in 2021. This is an increase of 6 percentage points compared to the year 2000. The significance is even greater for German imports. In 2021, more than a fifth of the imports of the Federal Republic originated from the Asia-Pacific region.
Not only trade linkages, but also the topic of foreign direct investment (FDI) is important for participants of the APK. GTAI provides foreign investors with comprehensive guidance on Germany as a business location, as well as with information on the relevance of Germany as a destination country for FDI. Furthermore, GTAI offers a variety of services in support of foreign companies that intend to set up a business in Germany.
Further information, a detailed conference schedule and the registration form for the APK can be found on the official website of the Asia-Pacific Conference.
