Event Review: Slovenian Automotive Company Delegation in Eastern Germany

Event: Nov 26, 2019 - Nov 29, 2019 Location: Berlin, Ilmenau, Zwickau, Dresden, Leipzig, Germany

A delegation of Slovenian companies from the automotive supplier industry visited selected locations in the new federal states as part of a pilot project during the period November 26-29, 2019. Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) devised the four-day visitor program in partnership with the AHK Slovenia and local partners in the regions visited.

The twenty-two member strong business delegation from Slowenia were presented with the latest trends and developments in the automotive sector in Eastern Germany by representatives of the Automotive Supplier Saxony Network (AMZ), Automotive Cluster Ostdeutschland and the Thüringer Innovatonszentrum Mobilität (ThIMo) as well as IAV in Stollberg. Participants received a general overview of developments in the automobile sectors as part of an opening workshop (26.11.2019) held by GTAI’s automotive experts in Berlin. Additional background information pertaining to the business locations Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia was also provided by representatives of the respective federal states' own economic development agencies.

The program was rounded off with visits to ThiMo in Ilmenau, IAV in Stollberg, Snop Automotive Zwickau, die Gläserne Manufaktur in Dresden, and a factory visit to Porsche Leipzig GmbH. The program of visits allowed the visiting Slovenian delegation members to gain an initial and in-depth overview of the automotive industry in Eastern Germany and establish contacts with company representatives on site.

Cooperation between GTAI and the AHK Slovenia was greatly supported by the active participation of Automotive Berlin Brandenburg e.V., Automotive Cluster Ostdeutschland, AMZ, ThIMo, and IAV in Stollberg as well as the economic development agencies of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
