Germany’s Federal Bureau of Energy Efficiency BfEE has published its annual report on the German energy services market. The current edition shows the total market volume remained stable at about €9 billion in 2017. The survey broke down the following estimated market sizes:
One positive finding in the study is that the market volumes remained stable despite low prices for fossil fuels.
Overall, market participants in the various segments are confident about their growth perspectives. Actors in the market are very diverse, varying from freelancers to large corporations with thousands of employees.
Energy service providers are located all over Germany, with a higher concentration in more industrialised and populated regions in the South and West of the country. There is no region with bottlenecks in the supply of energy services.
A market weakness lies on the demand side: in all the segments, utilisation rates lie far below 50% meaning that there is still a huge market potential to be realised.
Currently, energy prices and the share of energy costs are too low to put market players under pressure.
