Germany Trade & Invest and the German Chamber of Commerce in Austria organized the "Austria and Germany: Strong Partners for strong Business Success - Business potentials for Austrian Companies in Eastern Germany" event in Vienna.

Held at the elegant Palais Todesco, located in the city’s historical downtown, Austrian business representatives were given the opportunity to learn more about the business location Eastern Germany.

Thomas Gindele, chief executive of the German Chamber of Commerce in Austria, and Detlev Rünger, ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vienna, welcomed the guests.

Peter Alltschekow, Managing Director Marketing & Communications and Director Eastern Germany at Germany Trade & Invest, gave a brief overview of the activities of the agency, and summarized the various advantages of the business location Germany, giving special attention to the new federal states.

The examples of Austrian companies who have already expanded successfully into Germany were provided by Borealis Polymere GmbH plant manager Dr. Jürgen Mader, who have invested in Saxony-Anhalt, as well as by Günther Felderer, Business Unit Director Tubes & Sections, voestalpine Metal Forming GmbH, who hold investments in Brandenburg and Thuringia. Our two testimonial speakers emphasized the importance of specific location factors such as optimal transport connections and a flexible working force in leading to a positive development of turnover and employees.

Following the presentations, the invited guests had the opportunity to network and to engage in one-to-one discussions with the speakers.

The Vienna event proved popular with the guests and highlighted the viability of Eastern Germany as an excellent alternative to Eastern European locations for Austrian companies.
