Berlin (gtai) German IT and telecommunications companies will be putting on a confident show at the CeBIT 2015 trade fair in Hanover this week, with the branch expected to employ some 990,000 people by the end of the year. The figures, which were released last week by the Federal Association for Information Technology BITKOM, also show that the sector has generated 47,000 new jobs in two years and 125,000 jobs in five years, making it the second-largest industrial employer in Germany after mechanical engineering.
The employment data builds on positive sentiment in the market: 79 percent of German ICT enterprises expect turnover to grow in the next six months, with just seven percent expecting a downturn.
IT service providers and software companies are particularly buoyant, with 86 and 84 percent expecting growth respectively, a further BITKOM survey found.
“The high level of innovation and the rapid growth in the German ICT market makes it extremely attractive for foreign companies. The transition to Industrie 4.0 – smart manufacturing – is set to be a major driver for companies in the German IT segment,” says Henri Troillet, ICT market expert at Germany Trade & Invest.
Experts from Germany Trade & Invest will be at CeBIT 2015 to advise companies interested in setting up a presence in Germany. The agency will be represented at a number of events at the trade fair. Follow the link below for more information.
