Consulting Services, Natural Resource Management - Biodiversity and Local Development

Brief description of the Contract:

The objective of the project is to strengthen the protected area network in Georgia and to support the socio-economic development in the support zone around protected areas. This includes e.g. the development of ecotourism and other sources of income for the local population. The project thus aims at contributing to the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity in Georgia. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has committed for this purpose up to 16.25 million Euros. Funds will be provided through KfW Development Bank.

Requested Services:

• An international consultant shall support the Agency for Protected Areas (APA) in managing the programme over a period of six years. The services are to be delivered by a team comprised of international and national long-term and short-term staff, and other professional and administrative support staff. Applicants should have a track record e.g. in implementing conservation projects at the interface between conservation and rural development, managing financial cooperation programmes, and capacity building in natural resource management.
