Project

The Ghana Grid Development Company plans to build a 330kV power transmission line from the Pokuase Bulk Supply Point in the GA North Municipality in the Northeast of Accra to the second Kumasi Bulk Supply Point at Anwomaso in the Ejisu Municipal Assembly. The line will have a length of approx. 218,7km. Between the two bulk supply points, the line will drop at the 330kV New Nkawkaw Substation. In addition, the project includes a 4km line connecting the existing 161kV Nkawkaw Substation and the new 330kV Nkawkaw Substation. 

The project comprises three stages: pre-construction, construction and operation.

 

Requested Services

The IC will perform the following tasks:

  • Stage 1: Pre-construction 
  • 1.1 Project concept review: the IC will critically review the Project concept as set out in the Feasibility Study, inspect the Project Area and the existing facilities, and prepare detailed schedules and cost estimates, as well as a training programme for the GRIDCo personnel engaged in the project; 
  • 1.2 Pre-tendering: the IC will review the tendering document (already prepared by another consultant) for the selection of the works contractor; 
  • 1.3 Tendering: the IC will implement the tendering stage for the selection of the works contractor; 
  • Stage 2: Construction 
  • 2.1 Contract supervision: the IC will perform general and site supervision of the works, prepare the initial operation activities, continuously manage and monitor the project, prepare periodic reports, and participate in the preliminary acceptance of facilities; 
  • 2.2 Commissioning: the IC will ensure that all systems and components of the works are designed, installed, tested, and operated according to the Works Contract and the Employer’s requirements; 
  • Stage 3: Defects notification period (DNP) and project closure: The IC will inspect the installed works and equipment to verify that they perform according to specifications and that the contractor has completed all of its DNP responsibilities, including the ESHS responsibilities and reinstatement of any areas affected by the works.
