Study Finds Big Increase in German FDI

An analysis by the German Economic Institute (IW) in Cologne registered some EUR 86 billion in foreign investment in Germany in 2025.

The sum in the study, which was based on data from the German national bank, the Bundesbank, represents a fifty percent increase on the previous year.

The IW study includes mergers, acquisitions and shares in German companies. Thus, the results differ from other analyses, including Germany Trade & Invest’s annual FDI Report.

The institute said that while investments from the United States decline, there were major increases in activity from other European countries including the United Kingdom, Chile and Saudi Arabi. Investments from China also grew but remain at a marginal level.
