Regional investment promotion agency Berlin Partner says that companies, including Google, ASML and Mercedes, invested some EUR 1.4 billion in projects in the city during the first six months of this year. That’s more than double the amount from the preceding half-year.
There were also 43 new business expansion projects in Berlin in the first six months of 2026. Half came from German firms, but companies from the US, China and Turkey were also represented. Almost 3000 jobs were created. The largest amount investment was made in the realms of artificial intelligence, robotics and automation.
In addition, there were 430 newly created start-ups – a fifth more than in the final six months of 2025. Berlin remains Germany’s premier start-up hotspot. The sector, said Berlin Partner, is worth some EUR 169 billion and encompasses 1600 venture-capital-backed fledgling firms and 32 unicorns worth USD one billion or more.
