The German cybersecurity industry grew 10.1 percent over 2023, and Bitkom says it expects a similar increase in the year to come.
Nearly 60 percent of companies in Germany view cyberattacks as an existential threat, a Bitkom study has found. It estimated the annual damage from such attacks at over EUR 202.5 billion.
That’s spurred enormous growth in expenditure. Companies currently devote 18 percent of their IT budgets to security, compared with only 9 percent as recently as 2022.
“The great demand for both effective and trustworthy security solutions offers enormous opportunities for German providers,” said Bitkom President Ralf Wintergerst in a statement.
