Chris Moorman, Chief Commercial Officer Chris Moorman, Chief Commercial Officer | © ReElement Technologies

Chris Moorman, Chief Commercial Officer of ReElement Technologies, a US based refiner of critical battery and rare earth elements, took part as a US delegate to the REWIMET conference in August under the auspices of the Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI). In addition to the conference, the delegation visited German businesses focused on the critical mineral supply chain including HC Starck, Duesenfeld and Battery Damage Services.

"The GTAI trip provided an incredibly actionable introduction to the German market for lithium-ion battery recycling. During the trip, I was able to meet partners at several German small businesses in Lower Saxony that provided excellent partnerships for my firm. ReElement has already signed a supply agreement with Duesenfeld to take their best-in-class Duesenfeld Black product from end-of-life electric vehicle batteries for refining back into battery-grade lithium carbonate for a truly circular economy. We have also executed a Memorandum of Understanding with Battery Damage Services that will allow both firms to grow in the European market by providing cradle-to-grave solutions complying with the EU Battery Passport program. From the programming to the conference to the connections made, this was the most actionable international trade delegation that I have ever been a part of."

About GTAI Inbound Delegation Trips

GTAI inbound delegation tours are part of the ISW program and offer international companies the chance to visit a specific German region in order to get to know a particular industry ecosystem in that region. The delegation provides the opportunity to visit local companies and R&D actors as well as networks and clusters. We also arrange individual B2B meetings with industry players in the region.

This tour helps you to evaluate German market opportunities as a starting point for your European business expansion. Each tour event provides plenty of time for networking, asking questions of our experts and meeting potential future business partners.
