Construction, Rehabilitation of Landfill Sites and Construction of Critical Infrastructure (Solid Waste Management)

Requested Services:

• The Solid Waste Management Program II – IV (the “Programme”) jointly financed by KfW, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, and contributions from the European Union addresses critical solid waste infrastructure needs across Kosovo and aims to establish a sustainable and environmentally sound waste management system aligning national practices with EU standards. The project covers the four administrative regions Pristina, Gjilan, Peja and Prizren, and five infrastructure locations, with a focus on extension of existing landfills, improving landfill infrastructure and closing of one uncontrolled dumpsite.

  1: Prizren landfill

  Extension of landfill approx. 80,000 m²
  Construction of buildings and infrastructure
  Closure and capping of parts of the existing cell
  Leachate Treatment Plant - Biological Membrane Reactor (MBR)
  Landfill degasification and landfill gas treatment
  Supply of equipment for landfill operation

  2: Gjilan landfill

  Extension of landfill approx. 54.000 m2
  Construction of buildings and infrastructure
  Closure capping of parts of the existing cell, with a volume of waste relocation approx. 95.000 m3, profiling and compaction
  Leachate Treatment Plant - Biological Membrane Reactor (MBR)
  Landfill degasification and landfill gas treatment
  Supply of equipment for landfill operation

   

  3: Peja landfill

  Extension of landfill, approx. 50,600 m2
  Construction of buildings and infrastructure
  Closure capping of parts of the existing cell with a volume of waste relocation approx. 100.000 m3, profiling and compaction
  Leachate Treatment Plant - Biological Membrane Reactor (MBR)
  Supply of equipment for landfill operation

  4: Podujeva landfill

  Rehabilitation of parts of the existing cell
  Construction of buildings and infrastructure
  Leachate Treatment Plant - Biological Membrane Reactor (MBR)
  Supply of equipment for landfill operation

  5: Istog dumpsite

  Closure capping of the whole dumpsite approx. 30.000 m2
  Passive degasification
   

  The time frame for implementation of the works is 24 months. The defects notification period shall be 12 months after issue of Taking-Over-Certificate.
