Consulting Services for Implementation of Zanzibar Water Security Project

Programme Measures:

The Project consists of the following measures to be financed:

• Water supply measures on Pemba island (improvement of water production, transport, treatment, storage, and distribution systems, household connections, water metering)
• Water resources management measures – for both Unguja and Pemba islands (groundwater monitoring and groundwater modelling)
• Sanitation - geared at protecting water resources in project areas on Pemba island
• Non-technical aspects (institutional strengthening, water tariff review)
• Consulting services (capacity building, environmental and social studies, detailed designs,
  tender documentation, support during tendering, supervision of construction works)

Brief Description of the Contract:

The Implementation Consultant shall support the Project Executing Agency in the preparation and implementation of the Zanzibar Water Security Project, besides others in the following activities:

•  Preparation of conceptual and detailed designs, cost estimates and priority list for project
  components to be implemented with the available funding, as well as a procurement plan;
• Preparation of tender documents, accompanying the tender processes and preparing the
  award of contracts for all construction works and supply of goods and services;
• Supervision of construction works in line with international Environmental and Social
  Safeguard requirements and inspection of supplies, equipment and materials;
• Assistance during defects notification period and closure of project;
• Carrying out relevant training and capacity building to ZAWA as well as sensitivity
  campaigns to the Project beneficiaries;
