The de:hub initiative, a project of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), connects innovative startups with established companies and scientific excellence to drive the development of new digital business models and future-oriented technologies. The initiative strengthens Germany's position as a leading global digital innovation ecosystem and an attractive hub for digital transformation.

At 25 digital hubs across Germany, startups, companies, and research institutions come together to develop solutions for the challenges and opportunities of digitization. These hubs offer specialized programs, incubators, and accelerators focused on future technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, GreenTech, Mobility, Smart Infrastructure, and many more.

The digital hubs in Germany include Berlin (FinTech & DeepTech), Dortmund (Logistics), Dresden (Smart Systems), Leipzig (Smart Infrastructure), Frankfurt (FinTech), Darmstadt (Cybersecurity), Hamburg (Logistics & Commerce), Karlsruhe (Artificial Intelligence), Cologne (InsurTech), Mannheim/Ludwigshafen (Chemistry & Health), Munich (Mobility, InsurTech & Security & Defense), Nuremberg/Erlangen (Health), Potsdam (MediaTech), Stuttgart (Future Industries), Rostock (GreenTech), Luebeck (Renewable Energy), Saarbrücken (Artificial Intelligence), Halle (Life Science & Bioeconomy), Jena (Photonics & Digital Experience Platforms), Bremen (Smart Manufacturing), Osnabrueck/Hannover (AgriFood), and Düsseldorf (GreenTech).

The 25 Digital Hubs in Germany

The de:hub digital ecosystems network covers the whole of Germany. The industry focus of each hub is based on the respective industry focus of the region - ensuring that startups receive optimal networking and support opportunities. The de:hub Initiative creates partnerships by connecting SMEs and corporates with the newest innovators from the startup scene.

Startup Network

The de:hub initiative gives entrepreneurs direct access to professional partners and experts in the tech and business sectors. This network allows start-up founders to make contact with investors, potential clients and partners quickly, easily and reliably through the different innovation hubs. The partnerships created allows businesses to develop new innovative products and services with business, science and industry actors in the respective hubs.

Supporting Innovation

The de:hub Initiative provides support services to innovative SMEs. A comprehensive national database of hub activity allows established companies to enter into dialogue with young entrepreneurs and digital experts to jointly develop products and services in their specific business and industry areas. By bringing traditional companies and digital startups together, new business ideas are created.

Science Innovation Partner Network 

Scientific know-how in Germany provides new ideas and promotes innovation. The de:hub initiative platform allows talents from the world of science to showcase their ideas and identify potential employers. Established businesses and startups alike provide support to science talents in order to develop and bring digital products and services to market.
