Germany Spends Almost 400 Billion on Education, Research, Science
The country’s Federal Statistical Office says that private and public spending reached EUR 398 billion in 2023.

The figure represents a nominal increase of EUR 24 billion or seven percent more than in 2022.
EUR 283 billion was spent publicly and privately on education alone. That was 6.8 percent of German GDP and a six percent increase over the previous year.
Companies and non-university research institutions had expenditure of EUR 107 billion – an eight percent annual increase.
International companies say that the availability of highly qualified labor is one of the main things they look for when choosing to expand abroad.
