Battery Producer to Expand Eastern German Test Capacity
Chinese producer of batteries CATL wants to double it testing capabilities at its location in Arnstadt.

The world-leading company aims to have 300 test stations operational by early 2026. Among other things CATL says the expansion will enable it to test battery cell charging speeds in cold and hot conditions.
The firm has been making batteries in Arnstadt since 2023 and is gradually ramping up production there. The site primarily serves the automotive industry.
“With the expansion of our testing and validation center, CATL is taking an important step toward meeting the growing demand for advanced battery solutions in Europe,” the company’s head of German operations, Matt Shen, said in a statement.
