Large energy storage batteries were responsible for the largest share of the rise, with just over one gigawatt hour of new capacity added in the first three months of this year. The rate of home storage battery expansion remained basically constant.
Year-on-year total capacity grew by 38 percent. Large-scale storage battery capacity grew by 119 percent, and commercial battery storage by 58 percent. The number of new systems installed grew by 28 percent.
All told, Germany has 27.8 gigawatt hours of battery storage capacity, divided between some 2.5 million systems.
