Bitkom predicts the sector will be worth EUR 235.8 billion by the end of 2025, compared with EUR 225.9 billion the previous year.
The organization credits artificial intelligence and cloud computing software as major drivers of growth. It tips the sector to employ more than 1.35 million people by the end of 2025.
“The digital economy remains an anchor of stability and is expanding its position as Germany’s largest industrial employer,” said Bitkom president Ralf Wintergast in a press release.
Turnover in hardware is also on the rise, as firms in Germany are buying tablets (+18 percent annual increase), notebooks (+11.2 percent) and desktop PCs (+10.4 percent) to keep up with technological advances.
“The increasing use of AI means that quality devices are being purchased,” said Wintergast. “Companies are investing in Germany, and that’s a positive signal.”
