American AI Company to Open R&D Hub in Berlin

The customer-support company says that it will hire some one hundred employees in Berlin across engineering, AI, data science, product, and design.

Intercom’s products include an eponymous AI customer service platform and an innovative AI Agent called Fin, which is touted as a “concierge” for end-to-end customer journeys. German customers include electricity provider Ostrom, smart home technology firm tado°, and grocery delivery company Flink.

“We see Berlin as a key accelerator for our AI hiring – a place where we can bring in some of the brightest minds to help shape the future of our product and business,” said the company in a statement. “The city is home to a high density of AI-focused startups, applied research labs, and practitioners with exceptional literacy, optimism, and ambition in this field.”

Intercom was originally founded in Dublin in 2011. It has offices there as well as in Chicago, Sydney and London.
