The investment will take place over the next five years and will expand the company’s artificial intelligence and cloud computing services.
The Texas company’s project follows major investments in Frankfurt and its surroundings by other tech giants, including AWS, Google, Microsoft and SAP.
The head of Germany’s newly created Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernization welcomed the plans.
“Oracle's strategic investment underscores the fact that Germany is an attractive location for digital innovation and investment,” said Minister Karsten Wildberger in a statement on the Oracle website. “The growing demand for cloud solutions shows that the digital transformation in our country is progressing well. We welcome increasing investment, both from Germany and internationally, and welcome this investment expressly. It strengthens our digital infrastructure and will enable companies and public authorities to benefit from state-of-the-art AI and cloud technologies. Together with the business community, we want to continue on this path and further expand Germany's role as a leading digital location in Europe.”
