Renewables on the Rise in German Power Mix
Almost two-thirds of electricity generated in Germany in Q3 came from sustainable sources.

The largest providers of renewable electricity – wind and solar – accounted for roughly 25 percent of German-produced electricity in the third quarter of this year. All told renewables were responsible for 64.1 percent of power produced. That’s according to new figures published by the Federal Statistical Office.
Germany thus set a new record for the season. In 2024, renewables accounted for 63.5 percent of German-produced electricity.
The share of conventionally produced electricity in Q3 2025 declined to 35.9 percent from 36.5 percent in 2024. Coal now accounts for 20.6 percent of German electricity – down significantly from 36.2 percent as recently as Q3 2022.
